Events

Early bird registration till 10th April. The Rocks FoilFest26 is primarily a Surf foil event. Prone foil and foil assist divisions will be held based on weather conditions. The event may move based on conditions and all competitors will be on a private WhatsApp chat for event updates.  Saturday afternoon 9th May will be a foilfest extravaganza at South West Rocks Main Beach. Spectators will be encourage to setup a picnic and enjoy the show. The NSW Foil Club will demonstrate the versatility of the foil sports with fun foil events. There will be a Demo area with foil equipment on display. Foil member catch-ups with foil movies, Q&A and a meal will be held in the town of SWR.  Accommodation is available at Ingenia Caravan park (Camp sites and cabins, call 6566 6264, use reference NSW Foil Club), NRMA Horseshoe bay caravan park has limited spots, Trial Bay caravan park, The Seabreeze hotel has rooms and rental homes through LJ Hooker. To ensure everyone gets a surf foil heat and fair competition, please select a foil class - Foil Surf or Foil Assist. Based on the event numbers, there may be opportunity to do both. 

Bring your Valentine to Fishermans Beach on Sydney's Northern Beaches to enjoy a downwind foil race and a weekend of foiling activities. February 14th & 15th 2026. You must be a current 2026 member of the NSW Foil Club to enter. Early bird registration is now open till January 31st 2026. The full price of $130 from January 31st. The two day weather window will allow for the best conditions to hold a downwind foil race between Brownwater and Avalon. Competitors will be added to a group chat to update on race conditions and other foil activities over the weekend. Final decisions on the Downwind Foil Race will be made a few days prior.  We have Brands such as Foil Drive, Vaikobi, Code Foils, KT Foils, North Foils, Kaohi Leashes all demoing gear over the weekend for people in the public. We are also doing a social event at Modus Brewery Mona Vale on the Saturday night. Showcasing foil films and offering dinner and drinks for the foiling crew. A range of alternate foil events will be held while waiting for the prime downwind foil race.  Competitors must have a legrope, life jacket, phone to share location, high visibility item (rashie or life jacket). Schedule to follow, based on weather - Plan to be availabile 9-5pm on both the 14th and 15th February.

Four fabulous days of foiling fun 🤩 November 27-30th.  An expression session style event of Prone foiling, SUP foiling and foil assist.   Foil participants must be a current paid member of the NSW Foil Club, then register for the Merimbula Classic event insurance. Participants also must register via the Merimbula Sailboard Club website for the 4 day event. 

All competitors must be members of the NSW Foil Club Inc. to enter FoilFest 25 & must sign a NFC waiver. Once registered competitors will join a secure WhatsApp group. Registration will close on May 13th if not sold out before. This is primarily a surf foil competition over 4 days that will commence with a teams competition. The top 50 indivudal surf foil scores will move onto an indivudal surf foil competition. To maximise weather conditions, organisers may hold a Downwind race, a tow event or a course race (paddle up or catch a wave then complete a set course). Surf Foil competition Teams event - each team will be composed of 6 athletes, one of which has to be over 55yr or under 20yr of age. Teams will be based on geography &/or assigned. Individual event - The top 30 individual competitor scores will enter into the individual surf foil event.  Foil Assist - Competitors utilising a foil assist will have individual surf foil heats. Foil assit competitors will be required to go around an event marker buoy in between each scored wave.  Surf foil judging will be based on the execution of radical manouvres in the most critical section of the wave with speed, control and flow. Innovative and evolutionary foil surfing with a demonstration of variety will be rewarded. Competitors can pump back out to catch a maximum of three waves, then must come off foil. The first wave caught will be included in the final score. The top 2 wave scores count towards individual score. Pumping is not judged, however, transition onto the wave will be included in the wave score. Downwind foil competition All competitors will be required to have a leash, a high visibility vest &/or clothing, a mobile communication device (to enable location sharing) and a PFD vest.  Tow foil event - Depending on conditions, a tow foil event may be considered. Either a timed, course based race or a surf tow foil session. Course/ Pump event - A flat water course event involving a flat water (or surf assist) paddle up to pump around a course (set markers) that will be timed. Expression Session - An open slather of surf foil performance judged annonymously by your peers.  There will be an overall winner for the total foil disciplines over the four day competition. Rules Must have a leash, No footstraps (excpet in expression session), Helmets are recommended, NO dangerous or close encounters on the water (interference will be ruled and points deducted), all competitors are to comply with insutrctions of water safety personnel, the event manager and head judge decisions are final. Priority Not more than one foil surfer per wave, unless going in obviously different directions with no question of interference. If a foil surfer is paddling for a wave, the paddler has priority over a foil surfer pumping back out. If more than one foil surfer is pumping out, the first one to turn on the wave has priority. Accomodation / Camping options Point Plomer Campground; Delicates, Waves and Racecourse campgrounds. Point Plomer cabins, Wallum cottages and numerous accomodation options in Crescent Head (20min drive away)    

You must be a member of NSW Foil Club to register for the Event. There will be late fee if registering after 12pm Friday 17th January.  Proposed Event Schedule:- see below Location :- The road (off Anzac st, going down to the Collaroy Fishermans shed & communications room) will be closed off for competitor & event use. Equipment can be dropped off in this area. There will be space in the communications room to leave some gear inside. Please car pool as much as possible. Competitors must have a high vis vest (Vaikobi style) and live share their location (have a mobile phone on them). It is strongly recommended to use an EPIRB or take a flare (flares will be avilable for sale at registration) Please be sure you are logged in with your active 2025 paid membership (Only $10) to purchase a ticket. 

A gathering of like minded foil frothers (based at Point Plomer) to share and compare surf foil abilities in a teams and an individual event. The final location and event details will be outlined via group chat and at the safety briefing. Each participant must complete a waiver (emailed once registered) and meet the entry criteria.  Come share the foil STOKE BYO - Equipment, positive attitude and your provisions  We expect the event location will be at one of the beach breaks near Point Plomer. The teams event will be a 5 man team, rotating each foil surfer, over an allocated time period. Competitors will be added to a FoilFest WhatsApp group to keep updated.
